Manager GUI Launching the Connect Manager

To launch the program, double-click the shortcut icon of the Connect Manager on the desktop. Note: When you are required to Input the Personal Identification Number (PIN) code, Input the correct PIN and click OK. If you fail to Input the correct PIN or PIN Unblocking Key (PUK) code, the network-related functions would be unavailable.

Interface Overview

Shortcut Icons The following table lists the shortcut icons provided by the Connect Manager. Click… To… Display the Connect interface. Display the SMS interface. Display the USSD interface. Display the Contacts interface. Display the Settings interface. Status Information The following table lists the status information., Status Information Description Network signal Indicates the signal strength of the network. The more the bars are, the stronger the signal strength is: , , , , . Terminal Connection Displays the terminal connection status in the Connect Status interface. New message When a new message is received, In the system tray, the icon flashes. Unread message When there is an unread message: In the system tray, the icon flashes. When you move the cursor to the icon, the number of unread message(s) is displayed., 2 Internet Services

Accessing the Internet

After setting the network and connection profiles, you can access the network through the Connect Manager. To access the Internet, do as follows: 1. Click . 2. Click Connect to set up the connection. You can view the terminal connection status in the drop-down list. 3. Launch the browser on the PC to access the Internet. Note: When the connection is established, choose Disconnect to disconnect from the network.

Statistics Information

The traffic statistics function is used to record the traffic data, connection duration and the speed of data transfer. When connected to the network: You can view the connection duration, the traffic data, the current speed of data transfer and the maximum speed of data transfer. When disconnected from the network: You can view the connection duration, the traffic data and the maximum speed of data transfer., 3 SMS Services You can send, receive, and manage text messages on the Connect Manager.

Creating and Sending a Message

1. Click to display the SMS interface. 2. Click to display the New interface. 3. Input the recipient number by using one of the following options: Click , Then select a phone number in the Select Number interface. Input the recipient number directly. 4. Input the message content. 5. After the content is edited, you can choose the following options: Click : To send the message. Click : To exit edit of the current message and save the current message in the Drafts. Note: You can group send a message to up to 20 phone numbers. Each number should be separated by ";". You can enter up to 2,048 characters in a message each time.

Inbox

Inbox stores the received messages. To display the Inbox interface, do as follows: 1. Click to display the SMS interface. 2. Choose Local > Inbox to display the Inbox interface., Viewing a Message To view a message in the inbox, do as follows: 1. Display the SMS interface and select a message to read. 2. Click the selected message. The name, message content, and received time are displayed below the message list. 3. Right-click the selected message for the following options: Reply: In the Reply interface, re-edit the message and send it to the message sender. Forward: Forward the message to another person. Save Number to SIM/Save Number to Local: In the New Contact interface, enter other information (including name, mobile number, office number, and email address), and save the contact in the SIM card or local. Delete: Delete the message. Delete All: Delete all the messages in the inbox. Recover: Recover the selected messages from the Deleted. Search:Enter the name/phone number of the message sender, part of the message content to search a message. Note: You can press and hold Shift or Ctrl, and click the selected messages. The messages deleted from the inbox are stored in the Deleted box. You can forward only one message a time. You can also click the shortcut icons displayed below the message list to perform the following operations: : Reply to the selected message. : Forward the selected message. : Delete the selected message.

Outbox

Outbox stores the sent messages, including the messages sent both successfully and unsuccessfully. To display the Outbox interface, do as follows: 1. Click to display the SMS interface. 2. Choose Local > Outbox to display the Outbox interface. Note: For details, refer to “Inbox”.,

Drafts and Deleted

Drafts stores the unsent messages. Deleted stores the messages deleted from the local mailbox. Note: For details, refer to “Inbox”. The Deleted box does not store the messages deleted from the SIM/USIM card. If you delete the messages in the Deleted box, the messages will be deleted permanently. Be cautious while performing the operation.

Viewing a Message on the SIM/USIM Card

The messages saved on the SIM/USIM card can be operated in the same manner as the messages in the local message box. For details, refer to “Inbox”. Note The SIM/USIM card is supplied by the service provider. For details, contact your service provider. You can save the sent and received messages on the terminal. The messages saved on the terminal can be operated in the same manner as the messages on the SIM/USIM card. You can move a message from the SIM/USIM card to the local inbox or local outbox. 1. Click to display the SMS interface. 2. Click the SIM/USIM tab. 3. Select one or more messages in the message list. 4. Right-click the selected message(s) for the following options: Move to Local: Move the selected messages from the SIM/USIM card to Local. Move All to Local: Move all the messages from the SIM/USIM card to Local. Copy to Local: Copy the selected messages from the SIM/USIM card to Local. Copy All to Local: Copy all the messages from the SIM/USIM card to Local. 5. In the Prompt dialog box, click OK. Note: When the messages on the SIM/USIM card are moved to Local, the messages are deleted from the SIM/USIM card. The received messages on the SIM/USIM card are moved to the local inbox, and the sent messages on the SIM/USIM card are moved to the local outbox.,

Text Message Settings

Click , and click the SMS folder in the navigation tree. Text Alerts Settings Click Incoming SMS notification Settings, You can select the visual prompt and audio prompt. Option Description Show a notification When a new text message is received, a dialog box is when a new SMS arrives displayed. You can: Click View to view the new message. Click Cancel to view the message later. Play a sound when a You can perform the following operations: new SMS arrives Click Browse to select a text message tone file. Click Test to play the text message tone; click Stop to stop playing the text message tone. When a new message is received, the selected text message tone is played. Note: The text message tone can be a *.wav, *.mid or *.mp3 file. Setting the Location for Saving Text Messages You can set the location for saving received text messages. Option Description Save in local To save received messages on the PC. Save on SIM/USIM card To save received messages on the SIM/USIM card or or device device. Requesting a Delivery Report When the delivery report is enabled, the network delivers a status report for the sent message. 1. Click . 2. In the navigation tree, click SMS., 3. Select the Request delivery report check box. Setting the Message Center Number The information of message center number is provided with the SIM/USIM card. When the SIM/USIM card is inserted, the information is changed automatically. If no information exists or the information is deleted by mistake, contact your card provider. For the first time to send a text message, the Short Message Service Center (SMSC) number needs to be set. 1. Click . 2. In the navigation tree, click SMS. 3. Set the SMSC number. Note: The information of the SMSC number is loaded automatically. If the SMSC number is null or is deleted by mistake, contact your network service provider., 4 USSD

Checking the Balance

To check the balance, do as follows: 1. Click to display the USSD interface. 2. Click Check balance to check the balance.

Checking the Traffic Remains

To check the traffic remains, do as follows: 1. Click to display the USSD interface. 2. Click Traffic remains to check the traffic remains.

Activating the Payment Card

To activating the payment card, do as follows: 1. Click to display the USSD interface. 2. Click Activate payment card. 3. Select My number or Other number. 4. Click OK to top up.

Using the USSD Function

The Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) services are interactive data services. You can use an interactive data service supplied by the network service provider after sending an USSD command from your terminal device. Note: The USSD commands are supplied by the network service provider. Contact your network service provider for the charging scheme of the USSD services., 1. Click . 2. Click Input USSD. 3. Enter the USSD command in the prompt box. 4. Click OK.

Accessing the Default Website

To get more information by accessing the default website, do as follows: 1. Click to display the USSD interface. 2. Click Internet options details to access the default website., 5 Phonebook You can manage contacts in the phonebook conveniently with the Connect Manager.

Phonebook Management in Local

To enter the local phonebook, do as follows: 1. Click to display the Contacts interface. 2. Click Local in the navigation tree. Creating a Contact 1. Click in the Contacts interface. 2. Input the contact name, mobile number, work number and E-mail. 3. Click to add the icon. Click to delete the icon. Editing a Contact To edit a contact, do as follows: 1. Enter the local phonebook, select a contact. 2. Click the selected contact and modify the mobile number, work number, E-mail or the picture. You can also click the shortcut icons to perform the following operations: : Delete the selected contact. : Send a message to the mobile number of the contact. Viewing a Contact To view a contact, do as follows: 1. Enter the local phonebook, select a contact to view., 2. Click the selected contact. The contact name, mobile number, office number, home number, email address, and remarks are displayed. 3. Right-click the selected contact for the following options: Edit Contact: Change the information of the contact. Delete Contact: Delete the contact. Delete All: Delete all the contact. Send: Send a message or business card to the mobile number of the contact. Search: Enter the contact information to search a contact. Note: You can enter any part of the contact information to search. Each field of the contact information is supported.

Phonebook Management on the SIM/USIM Card

You can save the contacts on the SIM/USIM card. The contacts saved on the SIM/USIM card can be operated in the same manner as the contacts on the local. For details, refer to “Phonebook Management in Local”. Note: The SIM/USIM card is supplied by the service provider. For details, contact your service provider. You can move a contact from the SIM/USIM card to the local. 1. Click the SIM/USIM tab. 2. Select one or more contacts. 3. Right-click the selected contact(s) for the following options: Move to Local: Move the selected contact(s) from the SIM/USIM card to Local. Move All to Local: Move all the contact(s) from the SIM/USIM card to Local. Copy to Local: Copy the selected contact(s) from the SIM/USIM card to Local. Copy All to Local: Copy all the contact(s) from the SIM/USIM card to Local. 4. In the Prompt dialog box, click OK.

Import/Export

You can export the contacts from Local or the SIM/USIM card to a *.csv file, and import the contacts from a *.csv file to phonebook in Local or the SIM/USIM card. Note: In the local phonebook, select one or more contacts. Drag the contact(s) to the, SIM/USIM card in the navigation tree. Then the contact(s) are exported to the phonebook of the SIM/USIM card. Importing Contacts You can import the contacts from a *.csv file to the local phonebook or the SIM/USIM card. 1. Enter the Contacts interface. 2. Click Local or SIM/USIM in the navigation tree. 3. Right-click the contact list and choose Import. 4. Choose a file to import the contacts. Click Open to display the Field Mapping interface. 5. Drag the value in the file to the corresponding field on the right. 6. Click OK. Note: The maximum number of contacts that can be saved on the SIM/USIM card is subject to the capacity of the SIM/USIM card. When you import contacts to the SIM/USIM card, if its capacity is full, the import stops automatically. The content of the imported contacts is not affected. Exporting Contacts You can export contacts from the local phonebook and the SIM/USIM card. The exported contacts can only be saved in a *.csv file. 1. Enter the Contacts interface. 2. Click Local or SIM/USIM in the navigation tree. 3. Select one of the following operations: Right-click the contact list and select Export All Contacts. Select one or more contacts and right-click to select Export Selected Contacts. 4. Select the path to save the contact(s). 5. Enter the file name and click Save. Note: You can press and hold Shift or Ctrl, and click the selected contacts; or you can press Ctrl+A to select all the contacts in the list., 6 Settings and Information Query

Switching a Language

The Connect Manager provides several interface languages. During the running of the software, you can switch the languages. 1. Click . 2. Click Interface in the navigation tree. 3. Select the language in the drop-down list.

Setting the transparency

1. Click . 2. Click Interface in the navigation tree. 3. Select Show the velocity panel check box. 4. Drag the slider to set the transparency of the velocity panel.

PIN Operations

If a SIM/USIM card is used on the terminal, the Personal Identity Number (PIN) code protects your card from unauthorized use. You can modify the PIN code and enable/disable the PIN verification. Note: The PIN code and PIN Unblocking Key (PUK) code are provided along with the SIM/USIM card. For details, contact your service provider. Disabling the PIN Verification You can disable the PIN verification. If it is disabled, you do not need to verify the PIN code when launching the Connect Manager again. 1. Click . 2. Click PIN operation in the navigation tree., 3. Select Request PIN code to the application check box. Modifying the PIN Code 1. Click . 2. Click PIN operation in the navigation tree. 3. Click Chang PIN code. 4. Input the current PIN code and the new PIN code. 5. Input the new PIN code again. 6. Click OK to complete the modification. Note: The PIN code should be a numeric string of 4~8 digits. Entering the PUK Code When the SIM/USIM card is blocked after three times consecutive incorrect attempts to enter PIN code, you can input the correct PUK code to unlock the SIM/USIM card. 1. Click . 2. Click PIN operation in the navigation tree. 3. Click Input PUK code. 4. Input the correct PUK code. 5. Click OK.

Startup Settings

You can set the Connect Manager to minimize the interface after the startup and automatically connect on startup. 1. Click . 2. Click Start Settings in the navigation tree. 3. You can choose the following options: Select Minimize window after launch: The interface of the Connect Manager is automatically minimized after the Connect Manager is launched. Select Automatically connect on startup: The Connect Manager automatically connect to the network after launched.

Network Settings

To display the Network interface, do as follows: 1. Click ., 2. In the navigation tree, click Network. 3. Select Auto search and register.

Managing the Connection Profile

You can create and delete the connection profile. 1. Click . 2. Click Modem in the navigation tree. 3. Click to set the Profile name, access number, user name, password and Access Point Name (APN). 4. Click to delete the selected connection profile. Note: For details about setting the profile, contact your service provider. You can not edit the connection profile. By default, the latest created profile is the default profile., 7 FAQs What should I do if I cannot access the Internet? 1. Check the network signal strength. 2. Check whether you have activated the wireless online service. You can ask the local network operator how to activate it. 3. If the wireless online service is activated, check network settings according to the instructions in “Internet Services” on page 3. Why only part of the pasted content is displayed during the edit? When editing a message, a maximum of 2048 English characters can be entered. WINS Windows Internet Name Service, 9 Safety Precautions Please read the safety precautions carefully to ensure the correct use of your wireless device. Electronic Device Do not use your device when using the device causes danger or interference with electronic devices. Medical Device Follow rules and regulations set forth by hospitals and health care facilities. Do not use your device where using wireless devices is prohibited or may cause interference or danger. Some wireless devices may affect the performance of hearing aids. For any such problems, consult your service provider. The radio waves generated by the device may interfere with the operation of electronic medical devices. If you are using any electronic medical device, consult your doctor or contact the device manufacturer for the restrictions on the use of the device. Areas with Inflammables and Explosives Do not use your wireless device in any area with a potentially inflammable or explosive atmosphere, and comply with all signs and instructions. Such areas include but not limited to: Gas stations; Fuel depots (such as fuel space on boats); Fuel and chemical transfer or storage facilities; Areas where the air contains chemicals or particles such as grain, dust or metal powders; Areas clearly marked with ‘Explosion Hazard’; Areas marked with ‘Power Off Bi-Directional Wireless Devices’; Areas where you are advised to turn off your vehicle engine. Traffic Security Observe local laws and regulations while using the wireless device. To avoid any traffic accident, do not use the device while driving a vehicle. RF signals may affect electronic systems of motor vehicles. For more information, consult the vehicle manufacturer. In motor vehicle, do not place the device over the air bag or in the air bag deployment area. Otherwise, the device may hurt owing to the strong force when the air bag inflates., Do not use your device while flying in an aircraft. Power off your device before boarding an aircraft. Using wireless devices in an aircraft may cause danger to the operation of the aircraft and disrupt the wireless telephone network. Safety of Children Keep the device out of the reach of children. Otherwise, they may swallow the small components of the device, causing suffocation or other dangerous situation. Environmental Protection The disposal of this device and its accessories and of packaging materials is subject to the local rules and regulations. Compliance with Laws and Regulations When using the device, observe all applicable laws and regulations and respect legal rights of other people. Cleaning and Maintenance It is normal if the wireless device gets warm while being operated or charged. Before cleaning or maintaining the device, exit all running applications and disconnect the device from a PC. Operate and handle your wireless device with due care and keep it clean. Do not take the device to the fire or lit cigarette. Protect the device and its accessories from water or vapor. Do not drop, throw or bend the device. Clean the device with a piece of damp and soft antistatic cloth. Do not use any chemical detergents, powder, or other chemical agents (such as alcohol and benzene) to clean the device. Do not leave your device and its accessories in the places with an extreme high or low temperature. Use only accessories approved by the device manufacturer. If any malfunctions occur, contact an authorized service center. Do not dismantle the device or accessories. Otherwise, the warranty on the device and accessories becomes invalid. Emergency Call This wireless device transmits and receives radio signals. The connection cannot be guaranteed in all conditions. You should not rely solely on the device for essential communications. Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Your device is a radio transmitter and receiver. The device is designed in compliance with international guidelines. These guidelines were developed by the independent scientific organization International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and include safety measures designed to ensure safety for all users, regardless of age and health., The guidelines use the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) which is the unit of measurement for the amount of radio frequency energy absorbed by the body when using a device. The SAR limit for wireless devices is 2.0 W/kg, which is the highest SAR value for this device type when tested in portable exposure conditions.]
